tamarindo

so stoked i had the opportunity to visit tamarindo, guanacaste.  claudia had the wit about her to pick tamarindo as a potential development site for her senior project so that she could travel there frequently for "work".   smart cat, she is.  we left sunday, 4 hours of traversing through the jungle (pronounced 'hoongla' in spanish).  on our drive, we came inches from smacking into a howler monkey that was crossing the road....that was a first.

tamarindo

after a few hours of sunbathing, we grabbed a bite to eat at one of the local markets. we ordered a couple of firsts-claudia had yet to try a bloody mary...and i had yet to try a 'patacon'. a patacon is essentially a flattened plantain filled with chopped chicken or beef, various veggies, mayo and sweet tomato ketchup. it was unusual, but all the flavors mysteriously worked.

this would be our plantain patacon preparer flattening our food...hmmm....

dinner, then a walk on the beach....the perfect date....

snagged a few during our lazy stroll...

the 5th of july on a sunday...town had a weak pulse...but we still went out...

next morning, i woke to a family of monkeys playing over our hotel...the sun was blazing...ocean bound...

post beach bronze, i was an accomplice to a drive by shooting of serious magnitudes...

drive home was arduously long, after being baked for 2 days...but we made it...safe and sound...even captured this gorgeous sunset on our way...
