catarata fortuna

sunday. we rose early. after reveling in some fresh costa rican coffee paired with a traditional gallo pinto breakfast, we took off to find the waterfalls of la fortuna.

Photobucket

the waterfall drops about 70-75 meters and is located at the base of the dormant chato volcano.

after a 30 minute hike down, we reached the base. the water was actually a crystal clear blue....

we found a few pools just below, and i dove right in. it was cold. and fresh. paired with the sun, a winning combination.

my breath was again taken away from me as i hiked back up the mountain. phew. with all this relaxation and tranquillity, i have some serious jiggle in my wiggle.

the ride home to san jose was seamless. we made it back in record time. as we approached the rental agency, there was some anxiety in the air...ya know, due to the potential financial and legal repercussions of the demolition derby car, toasty.

we already knew that we were going to have to pay an extra 50 dollars on top of the original 142. we were prepared for that. what we were not prepared for, however, was to walk into the office, all grinning like guilty chesire cats, and to be charged less than our original price. there was no questions. there was no interrogations. we were only charged for 2 days instead of 3. and the 50 dollar fee for the second car was dropped.
pura vida!
